The Applicability with Diverse Groups The magnificence of these two methodologies, as per Hepworth, Rooney and GD Rooney et al (2009, p. 364) is their materialness with various gatherings, particularly poor people, minority and ethnocultural gatherings. This is to a great extent since they accentuate on the privilege of customers to distinguish issues and spotlight on enabling the minimized customers. Furthermore, they are useful in expelling the hindrances to multicultural clinical practices as they to a great extent acknowledge the clientsââ¬â¢ perspective on issues. Nonetheless, the upside of emergency mediation methodology and errand focused methodology is their utilization with various populaces. Specialists like James ( 2008, p. 39) are of the conviction that emergency intercession has widespread application to non-white individuals as it is normal for non-white individuals to encounter emergency and because of boundaries of culture, ethnicity, and prejudice. When they look for help, the issue will be in a constant state. This methodology has six phases to be specific: characterizing the issue, guaranteeing customer wellbeing, offering help, looking at options, making arrangements, and acquiring duty (in the same place). Presently, it becomes obvious that both the methodologies are exceptionally gainful apparatuses in social work as both have confidence in the centeredness of people and both depend on the hypothesis of enabling the customers to deal with their circumstance themselves, in this manner advancing freedom rather than reliance. The following are sure highlights that make these methodologies increasingly best in social circumstances. The Patient Centeredness Both the methodologies show re straint focused in nature. The errand focused methodology has faith in the capacity of the customers to tackle their issues themselves or to improve their issues to a middle of the road level. The assignment focused methodology depends on the presumption that the vast majority have satisfactory aptitudes and assets to take care of their issues themselves. Furthermore, it is accepted that individuals want to tackle their issues. Issues emerge in individual, family or social circles that can hinder the goals of issues. The errand focused methodology accepts that individuals have the natural abilities to take care of their issues or to rebuild the circumstance to a decent level. Additionally, emergency mediation strategy also depends on the supposition that intercession becomes important when an individual can't deal with the disruption and turmoil brought about by an emergency. This also acknowledges the way that emergency can emerge in families, gatherings, networks, and countries. A ctually, both the methodologies focus on enabling the patient, improving the degree of working, and building up a spot for dealing with emergency. Moreover, both have confidence in the dynamic cooperation of customers and both are present moment in nature. The motivation behind the two methodologies is to recapture the lost balance in the clientââ¬â¢s life. The strength of these methodologies is the absolute support of the customers in the technique, and the achievement of the methodologies is completely subject to the clientââ¬â¢s availability to play out the undertakings they are doled out. In both the cases, when the undertakings and objectives are set, there are ordinary gatherings to screen progress and to offer help in the push to accomplish the objectives. Arranged as a feature of the huge World Exhibition, the 1900 Olympics wereâ under-exposed and totally disorganized.à The disarray was extraordinary to such an extent that in the wake of contending, numerous members didn't understand that they had quite recently taken an interest in the Olympics.â It is critical to note, in any case, that it was in the 1900 Olympic Games that ladies initially took an interest as contestants.â Tumult Albeit a larger number of competitors went to the 1900 Games than in 1896, the conditions that welcomed the challengers were horrifying. Planning clashes were extraordinary to such an extent that numerous challengers never made it to their occasions. In any event, when they made it to their occasions, competitors discovered their zones scarcely usable. For example, the zones for the running occasions were on grass (instead of on soot track) and lopsided. The disk and mallet hurlers regularly found that there wasnt sufficient space to toss, so their shots arrived in the trees. The obstacles were made out of broken utility poles. What's more, the swimming occasions were led in the Seine River, which had a very solid ebb and flow. Cheating? Sprinters in the long distance race associated the French members with cheating since the American sprinters arrived at the end goal without having the French competitors pass them, just to locate the French sprinters as of now toward the end goal apparently refreshed.â For the most part French Participants The idea of the new, current Olympic Games was still new and travel to different nations was long, hard, tiring, and troublesome. This in addition to the way that there was almost no exposure for the 1900 Olympic Games implied that couple of nations partook and that a larger part of the hopefuls were really from France.à The croquet occasion, for instance, not just had recently French players, all the players were from Paris. For these exact same reasons, participation was exceptionally low. Obviously, for that exact same croquet occasion, just one, single ticket was offered to a man who had gone from Nice. Blended Teams In contrast to later Olympic Games, groups of the 1900s Olympics were regularly made out of people from more than one nation. At times, people could likewise be on a similar group. One such case was 32-year-oldà Hà ©là ¨ne de Pourtalã ¨s, who turned into the principal female Olympic boss. She took an interest in the 1-2 ton cruising occasion on board theà Là ©rina, with her better half and nephew. First Woman to Win a Gold Medal As referenced above,à Hà ©là ¨ne de Pourtalã ¨s was the main lady to win gold while contending in the 1-2 ton cruising occasion. The primary lady to win gold in an individual occasion was British Charlotte Cooper, a megastar tennis player, who won the two singles and blended pairs. lyujobfullre1980http://www.blogger.com/profile/15775260499357579116noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1623620285669287492.post-50454615870944616692020-08-22T05:26:00.001-07:002020-08-22T05:26:37.791-07:00Breach as a Motif in China Mieville's The City and The City EssayPenetrate as a Motif in China Mieville's The City and The City - Essay Example Mieville summons that penetrate at different focuses in the novel as a theme that speaks to the all-unavoidable condition of the East European conditions of the Soviet period. These penetrates are explored by a body that itself is by all accounts a theme that consolidates in itself the impacts of the considerable number of themes of breaks that oversee the lives of the individuals in the novelââ¬â¢s anecdotal urban communities of Beszel and Ul Qoma. The excursion of Tayodu Borlu, the hero of the novel and the criminologist who looks to unravel the puzzle of a homicide that serves to outline the story and give it its push, is one that uncovers numerous parts of current life. These range from the absence of opportunity that is experienced by individuals in country states to the spot of man in a universe that could conceivably offer clarifications. This universe, in any case, keeps on rebuffing its occupants for offenses the reasons for which they may not know. The absence of informa tion that is shared by the individuals of Beszel and Ul Qoma is the thing that joins them and gives them a typical predetermination. The idea of break alludes to a comprehension of this solidarity in numbness. In this sense, it appears just as the novel focuses to obliviousness as the best weapon that is utilized by the advanced state to communicate its capacity and exercise its power over its kin. To put them in a condition of complete obliviousness with respect to their own condition, joined by a dread of the break makes Mievilleââ¬â¢s work more like a work like V for Vendetta instead of something like The Matrix. Like both these works, the individuals in the two urban areas experience the ill effects of the way that their reality is a mind boggling web of untruths that is spun by an all-encompassing system of power. This authority is exemplified by the Breach that can cause an individual to evaporate from seeing others. With regards to individuals who decide to disregard a few parts of life, the thought of an evaporated individual may allude to someone who is simply neglected, much similarly that Ralph Ellisonââ¬â¢s hero is, in the book, The Invisible Man. The purposes behind the insignificance of both are similarly ridiculous and hard to comprehend. This is probably the best quality of Mievilleââ¬â¢s epic the way that it can attract inferences to numerous other significant works of fiction that discussion of harsh systems. His capacity to associate his inferior viewpoint to different variants of it makes The City and the City an exceptionally unpredictable work of fiction. The break speaks to an absence of solidarity. While evaluating the tyrant systems that were a piece of East European country states during the Cold War Era, Mieville strikes at the very heart of the way of thinking of these countries the solidarity of their kin in a boorish society. He focuses to the disunity that states tried to execute during this time and the impacts that it had on individuals who had until now lived in networks that traded thoughts and convictions in a more liberated society. The absence of opportunity that Borlu has in researching the case owes itself to the absence of solidarity between the individuals of the two urban communities. This can be found in the perspectives that are communicated at first by his partner in Ul Qom, who is cold and stooping towards him. There are, along these lines, numerous structures that the state makes to propagate its own lyujobfullre1980http://www.blogger.com/profile/15775260499357579116noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1623620285669287492.post-42713668012928433342020-08-21T20:25:00.001-07:002020-08-21T20:25:29.104-07:00Constitutionality of the Death Penalty essaysLegality of the Death Penalty papers Legality of the Death Penalty Furman v. Georgia was a milestone case in the records of American Law since it was the first run through the Supreme Court went to the dubious inquiry of the death penalty. The death penalty has consistently been a fervently discussed issue in the United States. At the point when this issue is combined with the issue of racial separation, the issue gets more blazing than at any other time. Also, this is correctly what Furman v. Georgia was around: a dark man indicted for homicide and condemned to death. The American open has reliably preferred the utilization of capital punishment. Albeit against the death penalty bunches in the nineteenth century won a few triumphs in hindering the drive for capital punishment laws, the majority of their victories were brief. By the mid twentieth century, executions were normal and boundless, arriving at record numbers by the 1930s and 1940s, when in excess of 100 individuals were executed every year. Be that as it may, as open and authority trust in the viability and reasonableness of the death penalty started to wind down during the 1960s, the quantity of yearly executions dropped to the single digits. By the mid 1970s, there was an informal end to executions in the nation. Rivals of the demise discipline praised the Supreme Court choice in the 1972 decision that a jury's unregulated choice to force capital punishment drove toward a wanton and outlandish example of its utilization that was brutal and irregular. Notwithstanding, the counter capital punishment anteroom was not the out and out victors on the grounds that the court neglected to call capital punishment illegal. Only a couple of years after the fact, the death penalty was back with full power in the United States. My commitment is to be a great one, and Iâm getting clear that in order to be successful, there are certain traits that I must possess. Here are my top ten: Deliver clear, consistent communication. Of course there are no guarantees that everyone will understand the communication the way you meant it. At least if youâre clear and consistent, you minimize the possibility of misinterpretation or gaps in the lines of command. Learn from your mistakes and miscommunications. If you keep making the same mistakes, you are not being a leader. You are just being insane. Learning from your mistakes requires a willingness to self-evaluate, and a commitment to the utmost integrity. Be charismatic. What this means is to be present in the moment. Show up as who you are and not the way you think you should be. Charisma also requires a sense of humor! Be unstoppable. Obstacles and challenges are bound to arise. If you stop to carefully examine the obstacle you will not get past it. Keep looking toward your goals, and obstacles will have nothing on you. Have vision. Know why you are doing what you are doing, and have it be about something or someone other than you (or money). Vision will help you be unstoppable and inspiring. Be inspiring. Ask yourself, âWould you follow you?â If the answer is no, âStop, drop and rollâ and get yourself back in alignment. Get yourself to âYes.â Take action! And be the inspiring leader you know you truly are. Support the people around you. The measure of a great leader is the success of the people he or she leads. If the people around you are learning and growing, youâre doing something right. Be willing to change direction. Stubbornly charging toward a particular goal in a particular way is a recipe for disaster. Flexibility will allow for unexpected expansion and miraculous results. Keep looking for the next way to grow. Be committed. Dabblers and dilettantes will not get very far in leading anyone. Leaders can be counted on to be 100% in the game and to ride out the ups and downs. Know that itâs a game, and play full-out. Play a BIG game. That way if you win, you win, and if you lose, you win. Looking at my list, I notice there are places where Iâm right on, and others where there is a gap between where I am and where I want to be. This is good news! I get to learn and grow and always strive to more fully embody the qualities of a leader. What do you see for yourself in this list? This quote directly relates to the 20th-century poet, Maya Angelou, and her work. Maya Angelou has gone through many major events throughout her life such as the Great Depression, World War II, and the Cold War. The most ]important event that she lived through is where African Americans faced racial segregation and were treated unequally because of the color of their skin. The poem, Caged Bird, written by her is also about the racism African Americans faced during that time period. The racism and discrimination Angelou experienced during the time of segregation had a great impact on her poetry. à Marguerite Annie Johnson or Maya Angelou was born on April 4, 1928, in St. Louis, Missouri. Angelou has had a rough childhood such as her parents had a divorce when she was very young and she and her older brother, Bailey, had no choice and were sent to their Grandmotherââ¬â¢s house. Once she returned home to her mother at the age of seven, Angelou was raped by her mothers boyfriend. Then, as punishment towards this experience, one of Angelous uncles had killed him. Since she was so mortified by this experience, she stopped talking and spent years noticed as a virtual mute. A quote that explains this experience is, ââ¬Å"A second image from Angelouââ¬â¢s childhood involves the seven year oldââ¬â¢s rape by her motherââ¬â¢s boyfriend. When no legal punishment followed, the rapist was murdered, possibly by the victimââ¬â¢s uncles. Guilt following this incident drove Angelou inward, and she began reading the great works of literature.â⬠(Taylor). At the age of sixteen, she has gotten married and had a son named Guy. In order to earn a living for the family, she had many jobs such as being a waitress, singer, and a dancer. She has received many nominations for being a given actress such as a Tony Award and Emmy Award nomination along with others. She enjoyed dancing, but her knees caused her great deal of pain so she devoted time to writing. Some of Angelous best-known poetry and books are Just Give Me a Cool Drink of Water Fore I Die (1971), On the Pulse of Morning, All Gods Children Need Traveling Shoes (1986), Wouldnt Take Nothing for My Journey Now (1994) and A Song Flung Up to Heaven (2002). She was mostly inspired by Martin Luther King, Jr. and Malcolm X to pursue her passion for writing. Angelou then died on May 28, 2014, in Winston- Salem, North Carolina but, her death had a positive impact on society and she is now a role model for the world today. à Angelou lived during the 20th century during a time of racial segregation in America towards African Americans. In America, African Americans represented a various set of backgrounds and political standpoints. They have also taken up approximately 25% of the population, making them the most powerful minority in the country. By the early 20th century, blacks faced a ton of segregation in America. The civil rights movement began in 1954 in the south of the United States and ended around 1968. They fought for racial equality and freedom for not just African Americans but for all people. The movement also consists of African American leaders such as Martin Luther King Jr., James Farmer, and James Baldwin. Rosa Parks was one of the biggest inspirations of the civil rights movement when she refused to give her seat away to a white man on a public bus which led to her arrest. This also led to the Montgomery Bus Boycott which was also protest against segregation. Brown v. Board of Education allowed blacks to integrate into all white schools. This movement had gained success such as achieving the Civil Rights Act (1964) and the Voting Rights Act (1965), which pleaded to make certain that blacks could get their right to vote. As stated here, ââ¬Å"The movement enjoyed brief victories with the passage of the Civil Rights Act (1964) and Voting Rights Act (1965), which promised federal assistance to ensure that blacks could exercise their right to vote nearly 100 years after the pa ssage of the Fifteenth Amendmentâ⬠(Newman). Their battle through slavery and the civil rights movement gained them a passage of federal laws supervising equal rights for all Americans. This brief event had a major impact on Angelouââ¬â¢s writing because she was struggling with being a segregated African American during this time. The poem, Caged Bird by Maya Angelou is contrasting the conditions and emotions of being a free bird and a caged bird. Throughout the poem, Angelou addressed her feelings to American citizens of being a segregated and discriminated African American woman during the 20th century. This African American speaks of the fear of being a caged bird but also mentions the hope the bird still has of freedom by opening his throat to sing. This leads to the overall tone of the poem which is sympathetic but, hopeful. Angelouââ¬â¢s message of this work is during the difficult times, it is important to remain optimistic. à In Caged Bird, Maya Angelou uses auditory imagery and repetition to show how when life gets tough, it is important to remain hopeful. Auditory imagery is being shown when Angelou states, ââ¬Å"The caged bird singsâ⬠(15). The caged bird is singing to be heard and is still remaining optimistic even though it is being treated unfairly. This supports the extensional message of the poem because instead of the bird accepting oppression and remaining hopeless while it is being denied rights, it sings for hope and freedom. Repetition is being shown when she repeats, ââ¬Å"so he opens his throat to singâ⬠(30). It is seen in this element that even though the bird is caged, it is still proud and sings for independence which is also referencing African American preaching for free rights during a time of segregation. This quote supports the subject matter because Angelou is emphasizing how the caged bird still remains happy even tho it is caged with no rights. à The segregation and discrimination Angelou encountered during a period of racism had influenced her poetry. Some events that have influenced her poetry was at a young age, her parents had divorced and had no choice but to live with her grandmother. Eventually, she was raped at the age of seven by her motherââ¬â¢s boyfriend and a couple days later the culprit was killed by her uncle which caused her to be noticed as a virtual mute. She also faced segregation and racism due to being an African American. As Angelou grew older many good changes have occurred in the world today such as there is less discrimination towards African Americans and other racial groups today. America has even gotten there first African American president and his name is Barack Obama. In conclusion, Maya Angelou learned throughout her struggle of racial segregation that you have to fight for freedom in order to make an impact on the world. lyujobfullre1980http://www.blogger.com/profile/15775260499357579116noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1623620285669287492.post-26755872140917038992020-05-23T11:31:00.001-07:002020-05-23T11:31:04.445-07:00Modernist Literature Essay - 2369 Words Modernism emerged at the beginning of the twentieth century, following World War I and flowing through the ââ¬Å"roaring twenties.â⬠Materialism, crime, depression, and change filled this era. Reflecting the revolutionary time period, modernism itself was a revolution of style. Musicians, artists, and writers broke away from traditional, conventional techniques to create new, rebellious art. Modernism, in other words, was a change in how artists represented the world in their works. Passionate, sporadic jazz musicââ¬âreferred to as ââ¬Å"jungle musicâ⬠ââ¬âdanced through the music scene. Painters such as Pablo Picasso and Wassily Kandinsky stroked over the paintings of impressionist, representationalist artists, such as Hilaire-Germain-Edgar Degas.â⬠¦show more contentâ⬠¦Before artists concerned themselves with what they said; now they were most concerned with how they said it. Therefore, content and subject matter became back-up dancers to style. H emingwayââ¬â¢s The Sun Also Rises, for instance, revolves around a few characters that go from cafà © to cafà © drinking and chatting nonchalantly. Another modernist artist, T.S. Eliot, writes a long, beautiful poem entitled ââ¬Å"The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufruckâ⬠about a man contemplating asking a girl out, and William Carlos Williams describes a plain red wheelbarrow in one of his poems. However, the reader does not become frustrated with these simple, somewhat shallow plots because the style triumphs. For example, J. Alfred Prufruckââ¬â¢s silly contemplation of courtship does not seem so silly because Eliot has a charming style. The Great Gatsby is another huge triumph of style over content. Although the novel itself is about tragedy and loss and should leave one feeling very depressed, the reader feels quite the opposite. In other words, Fitzgeraldââ¬â¢s writing brings pleasure despite his dismal subject matter. Not only are the subject matters of modernist works unconventionally simple, but the sentences and word choices are also quite uncomplicated. Modernist writers left behind the showy, overwritten, sentimental writing that was common before them and wrote leaner works. In The Great Gatsby, Fitzgerald uses short, simple sentences throughout the work. After the United States became fully independent from Great Britain, following the Revolutionary War, the document was created to outline the functions and management of new nation. However, the document established a very weak central government, instead giving the power to the states. To correct the mistake, a new version of such a document was created: the Constitution, which is still in effect today. (Articles of Confederation, 1777-1781.) The majority of the details in the Constitution are remastered versions of details established in the Articles of Confederation, including the issues of taxation, power balance, and delegates. The Articles ofâ⬠¦show more contentâ⬠¦Furthermore, the Articles of Confederation left all governing power with the states, while the Constitution divided power into three branches: the executive, legislative, and judiciary. Using a system of checks and balances, the powers of each branch were kept in check by those of another. (Three Branches Of Government, 2015.) Articles I, II, and III detail the powers of each branch and how they are to managed. For example, a section of article II states ââ¬Å"No Person except a natural born Citizen, or a Citizen of the United States, at the time of the Adoption of this Constitution, shall be eligible to the Office of Presidentâ⬠¦Ã¢â¬ This is an example of how the executive branch is to be run. Another difference existed in the appointment of representatives to Congress. The Articles of Confederation state ââ¬Å"For the most convenient management of the general interests of the United States, delegates shall be annually appointed in such manner as the legislatures of each State shall direct, to meet in Congress on the first Monday in November, in every year, with a power reserved to each State to The Articles Of Confederation And The Constitution It all started after the Declaration of Independence during the time America was busy fighting the Revolutionary War, when Congress realized that they needed to form a plan to move forward and unite the thirteen states as a nation. It was then when Continental Congress met up in Pennsylvania and created a secured a document known as the Articles of Confederation. The Articles of Confederation was written on November 15, 1777, and ratified by all thirteen states on March 1, 1781. When the Articles of Confederation were written it had many goals in mind to set and preserve the country with all its freedoms, keeping America an independent nation. To see the mess that the Articles of Confederation brought to the country, I ll give an example. The state government would enforce the national government to print money during the revolutionary war to meet the demands of the war. But due to the debt that the United States were in during t he Revolutionary War, the overprinting of money had no money value to back it up, which therefore made it worthless by the time the end of the war rolled around. While the national government asked for the state governments to raise their taxes to recover from the war and bring the currency up to be worth something, the national government wasn t allowed to tax the states and were only able to request that each state pays their fair share. But by the national government not being able to enforce the taxes to be paid by the states is what led to horrible inflation. Because the states didn t want to pay taxes and thought that they could do without a national currency, they each created their own currency which too added to the inflation. Inflation was something that occurred with the currency when the value of the money was decreased, which later on led to the increase of prices, which meant that you needed more money to be able to buy something. The Constitution was created to help Americas government from collapsing. The need for the Constitution started with the failure of the Articles of Confederation. The Articles of Confederation was the first Constitution of the United States of America. When America gained independence from Great Britain, they needed a form of permanent authority. They wanted a form of government, but nothing too strong because they had just escaped a government that was too strong for their liking. Thus the Articles of Confederation was created in 1877. The reason they didnââ¬â¢t want a strong government is because the Crown had abused the American people with their harsh style of government. Of course Thomas Paineââ¬â¢s Common Sense helped them realize that the people didnââ¬â¢t need the Crown, and once they knew that they wanted out. The Articles began the Constitution but the articles had contained a lot of weaknesses so they had to create a new document. Few of the Article of Confederation goals were to bring the states together and establish a strong legislature. The main goals were to split up the land ordinance and sell it, which the colonists had set up. The Northwest Ordinance dealt more with the controlling of these new territories. In addition, although the Articles of Confederation wasâ⬠¦show more contentâ⬠¦Furthermore, there was also no separation of powers; along with no president, monarch, or prime minister to be the executive power. Few problems with the Articles were that the Congress had several problems passing laws due to the fact that 9 of the 13 states had to agree fi rst before any laws could be passed. Every state was very dislike and getting that several states to agree on something was almost not creatable. What made this problem worse was that Congress had no specific power to tax. The nation needed to higher the revenue to pay for war debts and also to maintain control of the government. In order to have made this happen, many different taxes were proposed, but none of them could be agreed on the same opinion upon by the states so no laws were passed. In other words, Congress could ask for money but they had no power to make the states to pay by forcing them. Without this money the government could not run the nation as planned, but without the power to tax there was no plan what so ever to raise the money. Another huge problem with the Articles of Confederation is that they didnââ¬â¢t invent a federal currency. Continental money wasnââ¬â¢t profitable much, and some states started to coin their own currency, which made this worse, wh ich made making trade among the states almost not happen able. Federal Election Commission, created national discord with a new discourse over moneyââ¬â¢s role in politics; in the 5-4 verdict, the Supreme Court affirmed the 1976 Buckley v. Valeo decision, which considered limits on political spending the equivalent of limits on first amendment rights. Corporate lobbyists viewed the decision to allow unlimited political expenditures as a victory for the Constitution, while grassroots organizations foresaw the wealthiest corporations and individuals transforming American democracy into a corporatocracy. Unfortunately, the criticsââ¬â¢ predictions materialized and crowded out any benefits to small donors. Because Citizens United allows unlimited, anonymous spending from corporations and wealthy interests, special interest groups exponentially increased electoral expenditures, holding politicians hostage to their wealthy donorsââ¬â¢ interests and hijacking American democracy in the process. Th e corporate takeover of representative politics specifically manifested in negative advertising because campaigners believed in negativityââ¬â¢s efficacy in influencing the electorate (Gordon). Moreover, the allowance of external spending encourages candidates to perceive spending towards mudslinging as less attached, and thus harmful, to the candidate. The effect of Citizens Unitedââ¬â¢s precedent is demonstrated in the lyujobfullre1980http://www.blogger.com/profile/15775260499357579116noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1623620285669287492.post-54253307519257988622020-05-06T11:57:00.001-07:002020-05-06T11:57:31.889-07:00Donââ¬â¢t Bother to Knock Free Essays Donââ¬â¢t Bother to Knock Different types of communication are used throughout the movie. I will limit myself to the analysis of types of communication between Jed and Nell. Nell is brought into the hotel room, and meets the parents of Bunny, the little girl she will be babysitting. We will write a custom essay sample on Donââ¬â¢t Bother to Knock or any similar topic only for you Order Now The parents swirl out, leaving simple instructions. Once Bunny goes to bed, Nell is left alone in the apartment. When she is alone, all you see is the sadness; therefore, she sends a facial message. In the introduction to the parents, and in her dealings with her uncle, she tries to keep it together, and put on a social happy expression, using the hidden self, but once alone, the mask is off. Meanwhile, another story goes on between Jed, a pilot, whoââ¬â¢s been dating Lynn; a lounge singer in the hotel. Jed is obviously a ââ¬Å"friends with benefitsâ⬠type situation. Lyn is not the type to put the pressure on him to commit. She finally has come to the decision that she canââ¬â¢t be with him anymore. Lyn says, ââ¬Å"You lack what I need. You lack an understanding heart. Pissed, Jed goes to his room, and then catches a glimpse in the window across the way, of Nell, dressed up in a gown, dancing around by herself. Eventually, she notices him, and they begin a nonverbal communication which may leads to a metamessage. He figures out her room number from the floor plan on the back of the door, and calls her, moving from nonverbal communication to interpersonal communicati on. They sit and talk on the phone, staring at each other from window to window, the mystery of the connection; interpersonal attraction enters the game. Jed, a guy out for a good time, and lonely guy, only sees the body at first. He looks at Nell, and sees a very beautiful woman and he thinks: I have hit the jackpot. Thereââ¬â¢s also certain passivity in Nell, a certain willingness that makes you think she would be ââ¬Å"easyâ⬠, but this may be an overattribution from Jed. Jed having self-esteem thinks that it will be pretty easy to capture this woman for the night. To increase his accuracy, Jed decided to pay a visit to the young lady. Over the devastating course of their next couple of scenes, when he invites himself over to her room, he begins to realize that something is not right. They flirt, they drink, they kiss, and through their interactions, something opens up in Nell, she projects onto him all of her hopes and dreams, which is alarming, so early in the game, and calls to mind fatal attraction. She loves him immediately, she self-disclosures, (first time they meet) showing inadequate interpersonal skills, therefore lack of effective emotional communication. Instead of taking advantage of what he thinks he deserves anyway (after all, she invited him over, sheââ¬â¢s in a negligee, she knows exactly what he wants! , Jed using his effective and active skills of listening, shows his ââ¬Å"understanding heartâ⬠; he just knows that seducing this woman would be wrong, but stays with her and offers help. When Nell and Jed neck on the couch, the little girl whom Nell is tending surprises the spooning couple, this drives the psychotic Nell over the edge, forcing Jed to try to keep the baby-sitter from harming both herself and the child, and once again showi ng his ability to interpersonal conflict management. The deliberation starts with an 11-1 vote for guilty. As the movie progresses, the one man who had a reasonable doubt about the guilt or innocent of the young boy, convinces the other members of the jury to question the facts presented. This paper examines the application of leadership concepts in the characters of each juror. Throughout the movie several leaders evolved, the main one being Juror #8, the man who stood alone from the get go with a not-guilty verdict. There may be varying perspectives on the theories of leadership evident in the movie, but the underlying principle is the same: A leader is someone who moves a group of people toward a common goal by means of social influence. Henry Fonda (Juror #8) illustrates important principles of leadership and influence in which the right person can lead group members to achieve a common goal, yet go through positive individual changes. Leaders are defined by two separate characteristics; those who are appointed as the leader and those with no special title that emerge as influential. According to Peter G. Northouse in his book, Leadership: Theory and Practiceâ⬠, leadership is a process whereby an individual influences a group of individuals to achieve a common goal. It also states that ââ¬Å"Influence is the sine qua non of leadership; without influence, leadership does not existâ⬠(3). Leadership is influence and Juror #8 is a perfect example. He was able to influence his fellow jurors to see as he saw and change the vote to not guilty even though it was a long and arduous process. In the movie, Juror #8 portrays a character that gains respect by others for emerging as a leader. He takes pride in the fact that he believes different than the other jurors, and does not let the fact that he is the ââ¬Å"minorityâ⬠inhibit him from trying to change the opinions of the other jurors. The movie opens with the jurors casting guilty votes to determine a thoughtless verdict. All eleven jurors, except one (Juror #8) voted guilty. As a viewer watching this movie, you have to give the character consideration since he decided to go against the norm and vote not guilty. This is a deviant trait, however, this deviant trait leads into an emerging leadership that the other characters respect. As a leader, Juror #8 stands out for various reasons. One of the most prominent is at the beginning of the movie. He begins to display task-oriented approach by offering up a new idea to the group. In this case, it was the idea of the boy being not guilty. Although the men were upset with him, the thought had crossed their mind long enough to realize he may be right. By offering up his opinion and a new suggestion, he opened the door for the other jurors. This then creates new options and processes for the group to explore. However, this also created tension and power struggles. Juror #8ââ¬â¢s point was that he had no substantial evidence to prove that he knew the boy was not guilty, but he had enough doubt to make the claim. For example, juror #8 is constantly ridiculed by the smaller minded of the jurors: the bigot or the sports fan. Others, however, are more open-minded and are curious to hear what he has to say. The old man (Juror #9) displayed a supportive style. For example, the old man sitting next to Fonda seemed to be the most intrigued by Fonda, simply because he had the courage to be different. In the beginning, certain traits, such as his aggressiveness or persuasiveness, may have identified juror #8 as a leader. However, he begins to emerge as the leader by elaborating on what every juror was trying to say or making suggestions to keep the group focused. Toward the middle of the movie, he had persuaded almost half of the jury to vote not guilty. They even started to go up to him and ask him what he really thought about the case. All he could say was all of it could have ââ¬Å"possiblyâ⬠not happened. This holds that attaining appropriate leadership behaviors depends on the situation. He conveyed the appropriate attitudes and patience to go along with the readiness level of the other jurors to switch their votes. Juror #8 was also a good listener and this could have also earned him so much respect. For example, he really tried to understand the supported evidence that the stockbroker had to offer. Henry Fonda emerged as a very successful leader because he showed value in others, empathy, seriousness and integrity. For example, he votes not guilty and shows empathy not because he is sure of the boys innocence, but because he wishes to talk about the serious case without emotionally pre-judging the eighteen-year old boy because he saw value in others and life. He shows empathy because in scenes he asks the jurors to imagine themselves in the boyââ¬â¢s shoes awaiting death sentence, physical abuse and torment by father, growing up in the slums etc. He only asks that each member look deep within them, and be as honest with them selves as possible. Another quality is that of trust. He trusts that the team members will make the right vote. He emerged into a leadership position, all because of the respect he earned by others. They learned a lot from him, as others watching this movie surely did. Leadership is rooted in character. Transactional leadership is a two-way social exchange in which there is reciprocal and mutual influence between a leader and the group. Juror # 8 demonstrates transactional leadership traits such as setting clear group goals and assisting group members in achieving those goals. He leads the jury that is ready to convict through a series of stages in which groups ready to acquit or convict, and those undecided-develop and then disintegrate. As a majority to acquit develops (the vote to acquit or convict must be unanimous). We see the group dynamics shift until Juror #8ââ¬â¢s lone voice is joined by 10 others. Psychodynamic theory is present in the scene in which the motivation behind the single-handed holdouts passion to convict becomes apparent. He has displaced his anger towards his estranged son onto the defendant, a no good, ungrateful kid like his son. Each character presents themselves in a different manner. To gain a deeper understanding of each man, we have listed them, and a few specific characteristics that stood out: Juror #1 (The Foreman): (Martin Balsam) A high-school assistant head coach, concerned about keeping the proceedings formal and maintain authority; easily frustrated and sensitive when someone objects to his control. (Dirks) Juror #2: (John Fiedler) A wimpy, balding bank clerk/teller, easily persuaded, meek, hesitant, goes along with the majority. (Dirks) Juror #3: (Lee J. Cobb) bullying, rude and husky man, extremely opinionated and biased, completely intolerant, forceful and loud-mouthed, temperamental andà vengeful; estrangement from his own teenaged son causes him to be hateful and hostile toward all young people. (Dirks) Juror #4: (E. G. Marshall). Well-educated, well-dressed stockbroker, presumably wealthy; studious, possesses an incredible recall and grasp of the facts of the case; cool-headed and rational, yet stuffy and prim; treats the case like a puzzle to be solved rather than as a case that may send the defendant to death. (Dirks) Juror #5: (Jack Klugman) Naive, insecure, frightened, reserved; has a slum-dwelling upbringing that the case resurrects in his mind; a guilty vote would distance him from his past. A typical working man, experiences difficulty in making up his own mind, a follower; respectful of older juror and willing to back up his words with fists. (Dirks) Juror #7: (Jack Warden) Clownish, impatient salesman, a flashy dresser, gum-chewing, obsessed baseball fan who wants to leave as soon as possible to attend evening game; extroverted; votes with the majority. (Dirks) Juror #8: (Henry Fonda) An architect, liberal-minded, patient truth-and-justice seeker; balanced, decent, courageous, well spoken and concerned. (Dirks) Juror #9: (Joseph Sweeney) Eldest man in group, white-haired, thin, retired. A garage owner, who simmers with anger, bitterness, racism; nasty, intolerant; needs the support of others to reinforce his angry outbursts. (Dirks) Juror #11: (George Voskovec) A watchmaker, speaks with a heavy accent, a recent refugee and immigrant; expresses reverence and respect for American democracy, its system of justice, and the infallibility of the Law. (Dirks) Juror #12: (Robert Webber) Well-dressed, easily swayed, smooth-talking business ad man with thick black glasses; uses advertising talk at one point: run this idea up the flagpole and see if anybody salutes it. Juror à is a high school football coach; his position in the jury room is a foreman. If it were not for Juror #1, there would not have been any order in the jury room. He acts as a mediator for all of the arguments that went on in the jury room. He controls and leads every discussion, speaking order, voting, and demonstration. He takes on the leading role and handles it well. He also brings organization into the jury room by organizing the jurors, the discussions, and the votes. With the leadership traits that Juror #1 brings into the jury room, he allows the trial to run smoothly and effectively. He keeps jurors on task and centered on the focus of arriving at either a guilty or not-guilty verdict. He emerged at the very beginning as a natural leader, because he stepped up to being the foreman, or the one who ran the deliberation. Juror #5 was very timid and passive. In the jury room, he acts with respect because he is very unsure about the case, and really does not know how he feels about things. So when it is his turn to talk he passes to hear the others before he makes the wrong assumption. With these actions he shows a lot of respect for not only the boy on trial, but also to the other jurors. However he seemed as if he needed someone to emerge as a leader for him to follow. He did not seem as if he was very confident in his own thoughts. Juror #6 is a salesman, who is impatient, opinionated, and rude. He shows little respect for anyone but himself. He shows that he is very impatient by not even thinking about the trial but rather the baseball tickets that he has for that nightââ¬â¢s game. He just wants to get out of there as soon as he can. It was not until after he was sure the game was over, that he began to show any interest in the case. He is very opinionated and that definitely stands out in the jury room. He does not care what anyone has to say. He has his own beliefs and does not care or want to hear anyone elseââ¬â¢s views. He is also known to be rude, because he shows no compassion or thought towards the boy on trial and he just wants to get it over with. He does not even stop to think that someoneââ¬â¢s life is on the line, he is too concerned about his own. There were several leadership styles or approaches that were evident in specific jurors. Juror #1 appeared to be a natural leader. As described earlier, he took the initiative to get things in order, and keep the deliberation on task. According the book ââ¬Å"Leadership: Theory and Practice,â⬠there are five major leadership traits: intelligence, self-confidence, determination, integrity, sociability. The first, intelligence, does not insinuate that one must be book smart. ââ¬Å"Intelligence is having strong verbal ability, perceptual ability, and reasoningâ⬠¦Ã¢â¬ (19). Your IQ does not necessarily reflect an effective leader. The second trait, self-confidence, ââ¬Å"â⬠¦is the ability to be certain about oneââ¬â¢s competencies and skill. â⬠(19) Juror #1 most definitely exhibits self-confidence. He does not hesitate to step up as the foreman, which is essentially the leader of the group. The third trait, determination is defined as having the desire to get the job done and includes characteristics such as initiative, persistence, dominance, and drive. All of these were displayed by juror #1, which helped them from declaring the case a miss-trail because a unanimous vote could not be reached. The other jurors were ready to end the fight, but juror #1 kept pushing them and eventually it paid off. The forth trait, integrity, is the quality of honesty and trustworthiness. This was the least displayed trait of all. However it was evident that the other jurors were comfortable with this juror being the foreman. The fifth and final trait, sociability, is the ability to seek out pleasant social relationships. Within the context of the movie, there were not many pleasant conversations. The conversations usually included jurors yelling at one another. Juror #1 did try to keep the arguments to a minimum, however, with 12 different viewpoints, there is bound to be an argument. The Psychodynamic Approach seemed to be the choice for juror #2. The Psychodynamic approach states that leaders are more effective when they have insight into their own psychological makeup (235). Juror seemed to think that it was nearly impossible for the boy to forget the movie he was supposedly at during the time his father was murdered. Juror #8 began to ask juror #2 when he went to the movie last, and what movie he had seen, and who had played in it. Juror #2 began to realize that he could not remember either, and he was not even under any emotional stress. After he realized it was possible to forget the movie, and who played in it, it raised a reasonable doubt in his own mind. We felt that Juror #6 displayed a Style Approach to leadership, particularly an Authority Compliance style. According to Blake and Moutonââ¬â¢s Managerial Grid, Juror #6 is very results driven. This was very evident in the fact that he simply wanted to find the boy guilty because he had baseball tickets for that night. He showed no concern for the other membersââ¬â¢ opinions or the fact that he would be sentencing a boy to death. The authority compliance style is described as being task oriented and showing little or no concern for people. Juror #6 definitely exhibits this behavior. On the other hand Juror #8 displayed a Transformational Leadership style. He was very compassionate, and showed high regard for others as stated earlier. Northouse describes it as: ââ¬Å"Transformational leadership is a process that changes and transforms individuals. It is concerned with emotions, values, ethics, standards, and long-term goals, and includes assessing followersââ¬â¢ motives, satisfying their needs, and treating them as full human beings. Transformational leadership involves an exceptional form of influence that moves followers to accomplish more than what is usually expected of them. â⬠(169) Juror #8 certainly displayed all the characteristics of transformational leadership. He was concerned about changing the opinions of the other jurors, and to raise a reasonable doubt in their minds to the guilt or innocence of the boy. He not only had to convince them he should be found not guilty, but also that what he was saying was true. He knew his facts and was able to present them in a way that related to each juror. He was confident in himself, and able to convey that to the others. He emerged as not only a transformational leader but as a natural leader. He was able to motivate his followers, or at the beginning his opponents to think and look deeper into their minds. The jurors had a huge decision to make, whether or not a boy would live or die based upon the findings presented by the prosecution. The jurors would have to live with their decision for the rest of their lives, a decision no one should take lightly. In all decisions, individuals should act ethically. Many however do not. The jurors took a very carefree approach in the beginning hoping to make the decision quickly and leave. They did not want to put forth any extra effort in making this decision. They thought they knew all they needed to know. When facts began to present in the jury room, many had forgotten very important ones. Even after these ââ¬Å"newâ⬠facts were presented they still wanted to quickly decide. It took a long time, but a decision was made, not-guilty, one, which I think all the jurors would be able to live with. Many times several different leadership styles and approaches are frowned upon, however the differences could prove to be beneficial as they did in this situation. When you present your point of view, regardless of the initial support, you will be heard, and you may just be the voice another person needs to hear to speak out against the majority. Being the minority is not easy, but you must exert the confidence and determination and be bold. lyujobfullre1980http://www.blogger.com/profile/15775260499357579116noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1623620285669287492.post-63118469528603812752020-05-01T17:52:00.001-07:002020-05-01T17:52:02.314-07:00Economics Report Uberx Deloitte Australia -Myassignmnehelp.COm Question: Discuss About The Economics Report Uberx Deloitte Australia? Answer: Introduction As the smartphone technology is advancing every day, people have become very much dependent on their phones for every small thing in life. The ios and android technologies have been compelling people to use them for almost all type of regular activities, such as, grocery shopping to ride sharing. There are many companies in the transport marketing that connect with the customers through apps and have launched services like booking a cab or sharing rides with others. These are all professional services, where professional drivers with their own car register and provide the service for the entire day. Uber is the biggest example in this case, followed by Ola and Taxify in Australia (roymorgan.com., 2017). Lets Go Share is the new business venture, which follows the idea of ride sharing, similar to Uber and other companies, with a slight twist in the tale. This business venture is not for professional drivers. It allows only those people, who travel to their offices by their own car, to offer the unfilled spaces to others, who are travelling in the same route for a minimal charge of only $5. The idea has many aspects, such as, it is beneficial for the person, who is taking his car to the office. He can earn some extra money by offering the unfilled seats of his car to others. This is not a fulltime job similar to Uber and Ola. Rather, people would do it by choice and it will also provide them flexibility about how many seats they want to offer. On the other hand, the people, who are compelled to take public transport and face huge difficulties due to lack of seats, uncomfortable travel condition etc., can avail the opportunity to travel comfortably in a car by paying almost same amount of money as in public transport. Apart from that, there is some sustainability benefit attached to this business idea. As the general level of income is increasing regularly, number of people purchasing cars is increasing rapidly. If the number of car users keeps on increasing at a regular interval, then the level of pollution will increase due to more carbon emission. That will affect the environment negatively. Thus, this business venture will be beneficial for both the driver and passengers as well as for the environment also. Hence, it can be said that Lets Go Share is a new age business idea that focuses on the mutual benefits of the drivers as well as passengers along with a focus on sustainability. Supporting evidence Ride sharing is a booming business in Australia. As the smartphone technology has brought about a revolution, many companies have entered into the market with this innovative idea of ride sharing. Booking of cabs and shared rides through apps has become extremely popular among the people. Popularity of the companies, such as, Uber, Lyft, DiDi Kuaidi, Taxify, GoCatch, hi oscar etc. have increased multiple times and Ola is the new company that has announced to enter into the Australian market in 2018 (Chung, 2018). With time, the competition is increasing. All these companies provides the benefits like, all time availability at different locations, convenient booking system, rating system for the drivers, cheaper than private cabs, promotional offers and discounts, and integrated payment system. A report by Deloitte shows the market statistics of Uber. Since 2015, more than 14.5 billion rides have been introduced in Australia on a yearly basis (Deloitte Australia, 2018). There are two major benefits of this service. Firstly, the point to point transport is easier for pick up and drop service and makes it convenient for the customers to avail the service at any point and at any time. Secondly, price difference is a major USP of the rival companies, which helps them to capture a larger market (Lieu, 2017). However, it can be said that all these companies are operating in the market with fulltime drivers. The business idea for Lets Go Share is different than these companies in terms of nature of drivers, price, and availability. There is no other company in the market that has encouraged the office goers to share their own cars with strangers, sharing the same route, at a minimal price. The service of Lets Go Share will not be available all time. It will be a specific service a vailable only during the office hours, 5 days a week. Project plan The aim of the project is to provide the opportunity of sharing the ride with a mutual benefit for both the car owner and the fellow office goers who travel in the same route by public transport. The objective of the plan is to provide comfort to the people who avail the public transport during the peak office hours and also helping the car owners who travel alone to earn some extra money by offering the unfilled seats to the people travelling in the same route. It will also help in achieving sustainability in the long run by not raising the level of carbon emission by increasing the number of cars on road. The project would keep the price low as a differential point with the other services. During peak hours, the ride sharing services hike the charges and earn extra money. Lets Go Share will charge the passengers a price as low as $5 a ride, similar to the public transport and will pay the car owner a sustainable amount. This service would only be available for 5 days a week during the office time of the car owners. Thus, flexibility, cheaper price would benefit both the car owners and the passengers and also the environment with a cost of unavailability of the service during the weekends and lean office hours. It is expected that this service would help the office goers during the peak time by travelling comfortably with a cost similar to that of the public transport. References Chung, F. Discussion following each example explains the flaw, and a revision demonstrates clearer sentence composition. 1. Move over millennials- this group is taking over the rental market. The imperative ââ¬Å"move over,â⬠followed by a word identifying who is to act according to the imperative to step aside, reads as if an unspecified audience is being told to change their location at a position above a certain demographic group. When a sentence begins with a directive and a modifier, separate the two sentence elements with a comma: ââ¬Å"Move over, millennials- this group is taking over the rental market.â⬠2. This paper introduces a methodology based on industry-accepted frameworks that details all the steps firms need to take to conduct a comprehensive and compliant risk assessment. Here, the lack of agreement between frameworks and details signals that the verb does not apply to the noun, but their proximity still introduces a signal-to-noise obstacle, which would be amplified if the noun and verb did agree. To clarify that details pertains to methodology, not frameworks, bracket the modifying phrase ââ¬Å"based on industry-accepted frameworksâ⬠with commas: ââ¬Å"This paper introduces a methodology, based on industry-accepted frameworks, that details all the steps firms need to take to conduct a comprehensive and compliant risk assessment.â⬠3. Distribution and routes to market can be helped by implementing an automated digital portal although this is a bit more complex since it can have an impact on commission. This breathlessly barreling sentence benefits from a couple of inserted commas to signal nested subordinate clauses- the phrase beginning with since is subordinate to the one beginning with although, which in turn is subordinate to the main clause: ââ¬Å"Distribution and routes to market can be helped by implementing an automated digital portal, although this is a bit more complex, since it can have an impact on commission.â⬠Want to improve your English in five minutes a day? The Black Cat EssaysThe Cask or Amontillado VS. The Black Cat Essays The Cask or Amontillado VS. The Black Cat Paper The Cask or Amontillado VS. The Black Cat Paper Essay Topic: The Black Cat When used efficiently, the characterization and voice of a story can prevent the reader from condemning a characters actions. In horror novels, readers enjoy reading about plots that contain horrific bloody details on the deaths of innocent victims. Usually, the thought of death is painful for most humans but when we are engaged in a book we overlook the victims agony, instead we feed off of it to make ourselves feel complete and jubilant. We also make ourselves believe that the villains always have a motive to kill or harm others. This motive is our sanctuary. We are so sadistic and malevolent that we think that any motive to kill is acceptable, and this allows us to imagine ourselves as the killer. The characterization of characters and how the story is told can also make us believe that the killer is not truly the villain because we are told to think that the victim caused their own death. In The Cask of Amontillado Poe uses characterization and voice to prevent the reader from condemning Montressors actions. This is shown when Montressor immediately admits to the reader that he is going to commit a crime, Montressor also tells us exactly how he kills Fortunato, and Fortunato is characterized as a very proud person. In The Cask of Amontillado Montressor immediately admits to the reader that he will kill Fortunato, because Fortunato insulted him, from this we realize that there is an external conflict between the two men. Montressor tells the reader that The thousand injuries of Fortunato I had borne as best I could; but when he ventured upon insult I vowed revenge (Poe, 1). This means that Montressor is sick of Fortunato, and wants revenge because Fortunato goaded him. Montressors motive for killing Fortunato was because he was insulted by him. The voice of the story makes the reader forgive Montressor for wanting to kill a person because he had a motive for doing so. In addition, Montressor also states that he wants to punish Fortunato. Montressor makes this very clearly when he says I must not only punish, but punish with impunity. A wrong is unredressed when retribution overtakes its redresser (Poe, 1). Montressor wants to punish Fortunato without having to be punished himself, because he thinks that would be superfluous. This is how Montressor is going to kill Fortunato. He is going to kill him very mysteriously, so no one can assume that he was the one that committed the murder. Finally, Montressor admits to the reader that he will commit a crime, which he will not be accused of committing, because Montressor admits that he will commit a crime due to a motive the reader slightly forgives him and wonders how the conflict between Fortunato and Montressor will end. Edgar Allan Poe uses the voice of Montressor as first person to narrate The Cask of Amontillado, Montressor just so happens to be the murderer. First person narratives make us think that what is being said should be reliable, because they are telling us exactly what they have encountered. Throughout the story Montressor tells us exactly how he kills Fortunato, though his eyes. This makes us feel less sympathetic about Fortunatos death because we are seeing it though the eyes of the killer. This causes us to feel as though we are the ones killing Fortunato. In other words, since we are sadistic creatures from birth, we over look the fact that we are witnessing a crime punishable by death, instead we are encouraging Montressor to continue his deed to see how Fortunato will die. Montressor begins his deed by luring Fortunato into a catacomb where he has asked Fortunato to test some amontillado. The two men continue until Fortunato coughs heavily. This causes Montressor to say we will go back; your health is precious (Poe, 2). Montressor tries to persuade Fortunato that he is sick and that he should return home, but Fortunato refuses to. This question is asked a number of times throughout The Cask of Amontillado and every time it is asked the sadistic reader hopes that Fortunato will not turn back, so we can see how he dies. Montressor and Fortunato continue into the catacombs until they reach a niche where Fortunato is forced into while Montressor begins to vigorously wall up the entrance of the niche (Poe, 4). The stacking of the bricks to build a wall is seen though Montressors eyes, so the reader feels as if they are Montressor and they are the ones building the wall. This prevents the reader from feeling any sorrow for Fortunato because we are sadistic creatures that enjoy causing pain and lamentation. Lastly, the use of first person narrative allows the reader to connect to the narrator and forget about the suffering of another persons death, because they feel as though they are Montressor committing the crime. In general, when we are reading about inflicting pain on someone we do not think about the person dying, instead we think about the person that is killing. In The Cask of Amontillado Fortunato is characterized as a foolish arrogant drunkard that caused his own death. Fortunato is given many opportunities to turn back, but he continues on into the catacombs. When Montressor gives Fortunato the chance to return home he always concludes it with besides there is Luchesi- (Poe, 2). The idea of another person testing the wine is a terrible thought for Fortunato because he is very proud of his connoisseurship for fine wine, and wants to prove to Montressor that his taste for wine is far greater than that of Luchesis. This is how Fortunato brought his death upon himself, because he could not help but prove to Montressor that he has a greater taste for wine than Luchesi. Following this further, Fortunato is a foolish man that actually believes that Montressor wants him to test some Amontillado. Even when Montressor is sealing up the niche, which basically means that Fortunato is going to die, Fortunato is absurd enough to think that is it all a joke and laughs about it Ha! ha! ha! he! he! he! a very good joke indeed- an excellent jest (Poe, 5). When Fortunato says this, he still does not understand that he is going to die by the hands of Montressor. He is a fool to think that what is happening to him is all a joke. It is quite obvious that the Amontillado is a fallacy, and that being chained to a wall inside of a niche is a portent of a dolorous death. Fortunato should have realized that entering the catacombs would bring him to his death, but instead he follows Montressor though the catacombs, not expecting anything along the way. Fortunato is a gullible fool to think that Montressor is doing all of this just for some laughs and that he will actually let Fortunato test some Amontillado. When in reality Montressor is planning to kill him. Therefore, Fortunatos arrogance and foolishness cost him his life. In conclusion, Montressor is a remorseless killer, but the use of characterization and voice prevents the reader from thinking that Montressor is the villain. Poe begins The Cask of Amontillado by stating that Montressor will commit a crime due to a motive, this allows the reader to immediately want to forgive Montressor because he admits that he will do wrong. Poe also leads us into the malevolent mind of Montressor by telling the story in first person and shows us step by step how the death of Fortunato occurs through the eyes of Montressor. Poe characterizes the victim as an arrogant foolish drunkard, so the reader does not necessarily see him as innocent or feel bad about his death. Therefore, the use of characterization and voice can dramatically change a persons perspective on death and killing. I leave you with one question: Are we not as cruel and sadistic as the texts we read? lyujobfullre1980http://www.blogger.com/profile/15775260499357579116noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1623620285669287492.post-34728500530968249902020-02-18T07:12:00.001-08:002020-02-18T07:12:02.742-08:00How Parthian Kingship Evolved and Developed EssayHow Parthian Kingship Evolved and Developed - Essay Example The essay "How Parthian Kingship Evolved and Developed" talks about the royal image of the Parthian kings the study of which has been aided through the study of the coins of the earlier Arsacids in the mid-second century BCE. When it comes to royal identity display, Mithradates used various ways to legitimize their rule through certain identity projection. Dynastic legitimization enabled him to get attached to the former rulers in the Arsacid line. With this regard, Mithridates managed to show that he was rational next in line. Through idolizing his father and not Arsaces I, he was guaranteed of a godly ancestor. Through his usage of the Arsacid name, he managed to position himself in the line of the Parthian empire development. As a result, it gave Mithradates a firm identity as a Parthian, whereas allowing other communication means and culture open. It is viewed that the obverse faced similar way as obverses of the Seleucid faced. The diadem in various cultures had a meaning was adopted by Mithradates connected him with distanced him from the population of the Greek. The symbol of the beard was a vow for victory among the Parthian culture. Parthian coinage transformed from the traditional shape to something meaningful for Seleucid coinage and use of other cultural symbols to appeal to a greater audience. For this to work, certain conditions had to be fulfilled. The cultural elements had to be known by the targeted people and that the occupants of the empire were required to associate with their ruler. lyujobfullre1980http://www.blogger.com/profile/15775260499357579116noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1623620285669287492.post-21833631956728636632020-02-03T17:54:00.001-08:002020-02-03T17:54:03.782-08:00ESPANOL PARA NEGOCIOS Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1750 wordsESPANOL PARA NEGOCIOS - Essay Example El Acuerdo General sobre Aranceles y Comercio fue creado con el objetivo de eliminar barreras que afecten el comercio. Malaysia is one of the most beautiful and fascinating tourism destinations of South East Asia. Malaysia comprises out two parts, Peninsular Malaysia, which is located between Thailand in the north and Singapore in the south, and the two provinces Sabah and Sarawak, located on Borneo. It has a rich history courting back to the 13th century moreover it was a busy port for Europeans and far trades for many hundred years. It is a multiracial country with has a rich cultural heritage and a population of 23.27 million consisting of 61 percent Malays, 30 percent Chinese, 8 percent Indians and 1 percent of other ethnic groups. In 15th century Malacca was the initial name to Malaysia. In the year of 1957 Malaysia gained its independence from the British. Later in 1963 after the fusion of Singapore Sarawak and Sabah into a centr al union in which Malacca was called Malaysia. It is surprising to know that the Diversity of races, religions and cultures is an important characteristic of Malaysians. As moving from past to 21st century Malaysia is a modern city with shopping mall, cinemas, international hotels and star bucks everywhere. Knowing the brief history behind Malaysia after 4 hours sitting on plane I arrived into Kuala Lumpur which is the capital and the largest city in Malaysia. I was greeted by a member of a staff who then latterly took me off to hostel that night. Next morning I was warmly greeted and met the rest of the international students. It was a great day meeting them because I was happy to meet some of my collides who stayed with me in Srilanka. Accommodation costs are comparatively cheaper away from the city so as i moved into an apartment about 5-8 minutesââ¬â¢ walk from campus. At the campus there were rich variety of backgrounds, nationalities and cultures. Accommodating a community of 40% international students, studying at the Malaysia Campus is a great way to meet people from across the globe, learn about their cultures and communicate people about your own. Being in a newly expanded campus most of the facilities were new, Wireless network, library with latest collections of books, nice lecture hall with new computer and projector and also the shuttle service were amazing. The courses and teaching methods were not very different from what i have learnt in my country. When it comes to food Malaysia food is a mix of Indian, Chinese, Burmese and traditional Malay style. As for now I used to have my lunch, dinner in cafeteria. Sometimes when i get sick of the campus food I would just go to the restaurants nearby because there are number of small home style restaurants that offer delicious food at low prices. Trying out the Malaysians national dish Nasi lemak which is served with steamed rice, coconut milk, curry chicken or beef, fried anchovies and sambal was totally different when comes to the taste of red rice and curry. As a Sri Lankan student in Malaysia I wasnââ¬â¢t felt out of place because Malaysian culture is so way similar to srilankan traditions. On top of that, there are many places of interests in country such as beaches, islands and rain forest where you could fresh out from stress. Malaysias rain forest is deliberated as the oldest in the world so as the largest flower of the world, Rafflesia, is found in the rainforest of Malaysia. The diverse species of animals and plant life continue to enthuse a great deal. As a student to Malaysia, I discovered a wide range of customs and practices, some of which is different from what i practiced at my country. With different mix of races, religions and cultures Malaysians celebrate variety of festivals such as Chinese New Year, Hari Raya Puasa, ThaiPusasm, Deepavali and Christmas. Being an international student I did have its ups and downs. Major problem was adjusting with the language as Malay is the official language but English is also often spoken out as it is the second language, but I have largely adapted to it now. The pace of life in Malaysia is gentle, steady and everyone moves with a purpose and goal. Climate in Malaysia is different from my country as itââ¬â¢s generally warm throughout the year. Astonishingly they have only two seasons itââ¬â¢s the dry and the rainy season. Malaysia which is considered to be the most attracted tourist residence consists numerous places to visit such as the Kula Lumpur the largest and busiest city in Malaysia has the tallest twin buildings called Petronas Twin towers and it was established the worldââ¬â¢s tallest towers in the period of 1998 to 2004 and the sixth tallest telecommunication tower in the world. Redang Island in Terengganu is one of the finest coral and marine ecosystems in Malaysia. Following with the Cameron highlands a place for coolness, fresh fruits and vegetables. The national park Pahang for ecological wonders. Moreover the Petaling Street, the Centre of Kuala Lumpurs original Chinatown, maintains much of its traditional atmosphere, particularly at night and the Batu caves which is a limestone hill consists of series caves and caves temple located in north of Kula Lumpur. I explored some of the best cultural and natural sights, venues and places in Malaysia. One of the best places I visited in Malaysia was the Sunway Lagoon Theme Park, because it has five different theme parks at one place. If Disney land is happiest place in earth probably Sunway Lagoon T heme Park the most exciting and amazing place to see. Malaysia has some of the most attractive cave systems in the world. Among the more famous are the Niah, Mulu and Clearwater caves. With a charted length of 100 kilometers, the latter is considered Asiaââ¬â¢s longest cave system and grades tenth in the world. The Clearwater River which flows through this cave system is one of the worldââ¬â¢s biggest famous underground rivers. As others countries Malaysia is also endowed with natural resources such as agriculture, forestry and minerals. Rubber was one of the mainstays of Malaysia economy which was lately replaced by the oil palm. Meanwhile Malaysia comprises three major cultures: Malay, Chinese and Indian, each culture has its own traditional and religious objects of clothing all of which is gender precise and may be altered to local impacts and conditions. The Malay wears the Baju Kurung and the Baju Kebaya. Besides the Chinese women wear the cheongsam, it is a one-piece dress with a high neck, diagonally closed with small clips or toggles. The Indians wear very colorful saris in a rich variety of bright and refined dyes for their usual prayer in the temple and for everyday living. However for the Malay culture, the men usually wear Baju Melayu with a cap, on their head. Traditional clothing for men in Malaysia consists of a silk or cotton skirt and shirt with a scarf like piece of cloth tied around his waist. Meanwhile the Indian men wear Sherwani, which is a coat like clothing fitted close to the body, of knee-length or longer and opening in front with button. They also wear Lungi, Dhoti and Kurta and Paja ma. Wedding style is unique from other countries. The activities that take place during Malay wedding often come from the diverse cultural traditions indigenous, Hindu and Islamic those have together served to shape traditional Malay culture. Each wedding take place in their traditional way. Moreover the stability and peacefulness of Malaysia is a unique and a peaceful environment to live besides it is a great place if you love hot and humid climate, and if you are food lover. lyujobfullre1980http://www.blogger.com/profile/15775260499357579116noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1623620285669287492.post-86542351638441063732020-01-18T10:42:00.001-08:002020-01-18T10:42:04.506-08:00A Question of Authorship EssayFor the past five decades, the world of literature has come to venerate the great works of one man. The tremendous contribution of Shakespeare in Literature remains unparalleled. The sheer volume of the plays and sonnets he had written remain unmet, and the quality of its art remains unmatched. So much so, that there is probably no one inhabiting this earth who hasnââ¬â¢t the knowledge of the great writer. No one graduates from school without having the experience of Shakespeare in their education: his plays are celebrated through staging and his works are the subject of study in, and even outside of, Literature classes. Also, the celebration of Shakespeare and his works are not limited to the confines of education. Theatrical companies earn a sizeable proportion of their profits in staging Shakespeareââ¬â¢s five-century old works. Publishing companies benefit largely in the millions of hardbound copies they have printed of Shakespeareââ¬â¢s works, and the literature he and his works have inspired. With the picture that has been painted, we can see how influential and how big a pillar Shakespeare is in Literature. However, with the exception of literary scholars, not many people are aware of the issue that has surrounded Shakespeareââ¬â¢s authorship of the works that have been claimed to be his since the time man can remember. William Shakespeare of Stratford has always been regarded as the man who wrote the immortal plays and sonnets. But ever since speculations have started to arise, various names have also mushroomed through the investigations of scholars who claim that these names are the ones which we should be celebrating, and not that of the businessman William Shakespeare of Stratford. The speculations started when Alexander Pope brought to the attention of readers the authenticity of the attribution to Shakespeare in a number of his works. Pope attacked Shakespeareââ¬â¢s on the genuineness of works that had been excluded from the 1623 Folio, a collection of Shakespeareââ¬â¢s most compelling works. His criticisms made in the 17th century continued to influence the generations that followed with respect to their opinion on the matter. Primarily though, what has unsettled critics are the dissonance in his the experiences and education received by a theater man in Stratford and the quality and content of the works he allegedly produced, as stated by one source, ââ¬Å"The work attributed to Shakespeare shows a knowledge of geography, foreign language, politics, and an immense vocabulary that many find inconsistent with whatââ¬â¢s known about Shakespeareââ¬â¢s education,â⬠(Lanciai). Authorship Majority of the investigations were done through a historical point of view. If we take a look back in history during the time Shakespeare wrote his plays, we would find out how authorship was perceived as insignificant, even illegitimate, in the writing of the book. According to another source, traditional narratives that present the Middle Ages as a ââ¬Ëgolden ageââ¬â¢ of forgery for which questions of authorship and authenticity were unimportant (King). What triggered this was the inability of novice writers (especially people of rank) to publish their own name in their works under the regime of Queen Elizabeth. ââ¬Å"A gentleman of rank could not publish under his own name lest he be suspected of having a professionâ⬠. This policy was followed, and writers of rank either circulated their work privately or they made use of pen-names (Lanciai Christian). Also, the theater industry during Shakespeareââ¬â¢s time was an unsurveyable community (Lanciai). It therefore follows that while theater was an important industry of the era, it is very challenging to examine the works of the industry. These reasons ultimately lead to the graying of the trace to the real authorship of the works attributed to Shakespeare. Why not Shakespeare? It has been mentioned in this essay that the theater industry was an unsurveyable community during Shakespeareââ¬â¢s time. A piece of information that is known though is that the owners of the theaters were communally owned by the actors, according to Lanciaiââ¬â¢s article. Only the exceptional rise in the business, and William Shakespeare was one of them, as he was an accomplished capitalist of those times. Therefore, we can surmise that Shakespeare the businessman was a person considered of rank in his age. If we remember the rule that was imposed on writers of rank, another source argued thus: ââ¬Å"If Shakespeare was a gentleman of rank, then William Shakespeare could not he his real name. By contrast, the William Shakespeare who was a play-broker, part owner of an acting company, and resident of Stratford as well as London would have been in a good position to use and appropriate work written by an anonymous high-born author,â⬠(Price, Diana). How Shakespeare was perceived The manââ¬â¢s (Shakespeare of Stratford) social and professional position in question was described by Pope as this: ââ¬Å"He writ to the People; and writ at first without patronage from the better sort, and therefore without aims of pleasing them: without assistance or advice from the Learned, as without the advantage of education or acquaintance among them: [and] without the knowledge of the best models, the Ancients, to inspire himâ⬠¦Ã¢â¬ From this description, King surmised that Pope regarded the dialogue of the actors in his works as ââ¬Å"bad conversationsâ⬠, and that he was only able to get away with this because of the Court patronage. Also, he had drawn from the quote that the quality of Shakespeareââ¬â¢s dramatic writing improved in direct proportion to his level of social and linguistic contact with ââ¬Ëthe better sortââ¬â¢. With this we can already see how Pope has de-merited Shakespeare from the level of literary genius which has always been associated to his name. It also evident that Pope deemed Shakespeare of this position because of the social position he was in, as according to the same article, Shakespeareââ¬â¢s social contamination by his inferior associates and conversation partners contributed to the de-meriting. An argument from another author supported Popeââ¬â¢s claims when another author said, ââ¬Å"It appears that Shakespeare of Stratford was not much respected (or liked) while Shakespeare the author wasâ⬠(Price). The other side of Shakespeare of Stratford that Pope pointed out in concurs with the knowledge of the author. According to Priceââ¬â¢s book, Shakespeare of Stratford was identified by contemporary documents as a money-lender, play-broker, wheeler-dealer, social climber, and sometime actor. No contemporaries of Shakespeare called him as an author, not even people from his community. What also strengthens this argument is the lack of surviving documents written by him which have any literary significance (Price). Aside from these, whatââ¬â¢s also disturbing for scholars is the fact that the will left by Shakespeare did not mention of any books that he owned. In Elizabethan period, books were considered important items and therefore were to be bequeathed to relatives or fellow writers. His passing also spoke of his merit as a celebrated modern playwright in his time. Unlike other playwrights, his death did not stir any public notice. Add to that the issue brought about the will he left behind, these things make a lot of people wonder about his merit as a writer. It seems that his will was the only trace of Shakespeareââ¬â¢s literary works. A man named Reverend James Wilmot was said to have searched all of Warwickshire to look for any piece of evidence that would present Shakespeareââ¬â¢s literary activity. Reverend Wilmot did not find any anecdote, letter, document or any memento (Lanciai). Surely, anyone who is claimed to be a writer will have volumes of writings in his home, or any piece of writing at all. The article also explained that Reverend Wilmotââ¬â¢s discovery led him to conclude that Shakespeare really must have another writer. His education also proved nothing but extraordinary. According to Priceââ¬â¢s book also, the businessman from Stratford only acquired a grammar-school education at most. While possible, it is difficult to believe that a person of such educational attainment could produce the level of intellect and cultivation found in his works. It is almost unquestionable when one makes the claim that Shakespeareââ¬â¢s works have shaped the way English dramas are to be written, as put by another source, ââ¬Å"He creates and establishes the English verse drama, he gradually develops the English drama into the form which subsequently and invariably becomes the Shakespeare standard (Leahy, William). â⬠This particular writer is one with the critics who says it is impossible that these works of great quality could have been produced by a man with little educational background. Leahy added in his article, ââ¬Å"Itââ¬â¢s not likely that Shakespeare could master this form directly without preparatory work in such an accomplished professionalism which is already evident in the first Shakespeare dramas. â⬠What made him say this is due to his non-existent education and lack of experience of Cambridge, France, and Italy. Aside from this, Price adds how scholars point out that his knowledge of several foreign languages is deemed dubious. The article explained that there is no indication that Shakespeare knew any languages other than English, or that he ever left England. The discrepancy between the images of the two persons has fuelled the debates for the authenticity of the businessman from Stratfordââ¬â¢s authorship in the Shakespearian works. The Real Shakespeare Among the numerous strings of allegations and speculations regarding Shakespeare of Stratfordââ¬â¢s merit to claiming authorship to a number of literary works, a lot of names have also surfaced. Among these people was Francis Beaumont, a young dramatist who passed away in the same year William Shakespeare died. As death could sometimes speak of the greatness of a person, we could surely say that Beaumont was considered as one of the significant people in English drama. The whole of England mourned for his death and paid tribute to the dramatist. Aside from this young dramatist, another man is claimed to be the real Shakespeare. Ben Jonson, who also completely dominates the preface to the first edition of the complete works of Shakespeare, which appeared in 1623, is also suspected to be the real author of the plays (Lanciai). Lanciai adds that Ben Jonson himself has published his complete works first, which could have led him to think that the Shakespeare dramas should also be published. In addition, Christopher Marlowe has been alleged to be the original Shakespeare. Born in Canterbury, he was a learned man who received his education in the Kingââ¬â¢s School Canterbury, as well as Corpus Christi College, Cambridge through scholarships. The resonance with the quality of education has convinced many scholars, but what was more convincing was the practice he was able to gain in translations, poetry, and playwrighting (Oleg, et al). Lanciai also mentions another probable author to the works in question. After the discovery of Reverend Wilmot regarding the absence of Shakespeareââ¬â¢s literary work, the Reverend believed that a man named Francis Bacon should be recognized as the authentic author. The Reverend concluded that Shakespeare must have been the protective name for Bacon. According still to Lanciaiââ¬â¢s article, Baconââ¬â¢s education, experience and knowledgeableness could be better reconciled with the intellectual level exhibited by the works. Also, as the authorship clearly indicates that the experience were collected from at least the Cambridge university, Italy, and France, Bacon proved to be a probable candidate to the authorship as he had extensively went to these places. To add, Baconââ¬â¢s education allowed him a position as an ambassador and to also serve as a member of the House of Commons. He was knighted and moved to higher political positions after the ascension of James VI (Oleg, et. al) In conclusion, the works of Shakespeare are not to be questioned with respect to the contribution in Literature and the quality of art that it contains. While the question of the Shakespeare authorship has been around for hundreds of years and is therefore a very important matter to be settled, it would be more important and more contributory if aspiring writers who are inspired by these works to focus their attention to ââ¬Å"whatâ⬠and not as to theâ⬠who. â⬠Works Cited: King, Edmund G. This department is responsible for creating innovative new products to keep companies a step ahead of the competition. Many companies also rely on the R&D department to improve existing consumer products, and to explore new ways of producing them.Companies thrive and succeed by creating innovative products, as well as by increasing company profit and utilizing cost-efficient methods. A research and development department is primarily responsible for ensuring that these goals are met. This is an especially important function in the fields of manufacturing and pharmaceuticals, but can be applied to virtually any industry. Often, research and development works closely with the marketing department. Marketing studies consumer trends by surveying and researching consumer demands, purchasing methods, product sales, and the existence and development of technology across the relevant market. The marketing department gathers all the data, and makes this information available to the R&D department, which will take action in response to the findings and proceed to keep the company on top of current market needs. Consumer demands often change very quickly, and the research and development department must be alert and adapt to these market fluctuations accordingly. I would invest a substantial amount of money to research and development so that it can continually modify and update the firmââ¬â¢s products to preserve a brand's position within the market. This is because even if our product would be leading in the market, however much it is a key product, usually will not remain in the number one market position forev er without some type of improvement and advancement. Research and development department software The progress of innovation research and product development requires a good balance between the team and management involved in R;D projects. VIP Task Manager provides this balance and allows to manage R;D projects and activities effectively. The software helps to carry information on the latest developments and coordinate the resource assignment to new promising projects in efficient and timely way. VIP Task Manager can be used as R;D project management software for organizing the workflow of the department. The software gives the following options Quality is a major issue and R;D department is deeply involved in ensuring quality of new products and attaining the required levels of regulatory requirements. In cooperation with the quality assurance department, R;D department develops a quality plan for new products. When a company sells a product on the marketplace, it should keep regulat ory compliance with legal requirements. By using Centriqs, the R;D managers can organize the workflow for researches and development of new products. In Centriqs, there can be used task templates for researches of typical products as well as for a new product specification development. The software allows to add new workflow with specific task statuses. By introducing Centriqs shareware into the workflow, the R;D department can effective cooperate with QA department through sharing tasks and projects aimed to development of quality plans for new products. The R;D managers can use the Files view to upload regulatory documents to the database and attach documents to required tasks shared between engineers, technicians and scientists. | | Research and development department goals/tasks The main goal of the R;D department is to provide the organization with pro-active leadership in the industry and strong competitive advantages through implementation of new technologies and solutions aim ed to improve current product range and develop new products. The R;D department closely works with the quality assurance department in order to create a new solution for enhancing the sustainability and the quality of products. The tasks of R;D department could be split into two main groups: research and development. The groups are closely linked with each other, however they have some peculiarities. The research activities allow the organization to find more effective ways to produce a product. The development activities are focused on how to implement these ways into manufacturing of the current or a new product.Research and development department in company structure Research and development are often very expensive and it takes much time to get positive results from them. However most businesses invest a lot of money in research and development and build R;D departments. The organizations which have R;D departments in their structure, gain big advantages, because: 1. Products ar e commercialized faster 2. Products reach global markets 3. Contribution to customer confidence 4. Effective exploitation of technologies 5.They gain advantages over rivalsThe research and development department will enable a more progressive and faster transfer of innovations into product development and exploitation. | CAT 2 As a manager you have noted that the sales for a certain product have dropped despite having increased the level of advertising. Explain in details how you would undertake a market research to know whether advertising affects sales (20 marks) a. Background information. The background serves to put research objectives into context, and it will help me to understand why I will pursue the objectives of knowing why advertising affect sales.I would detail what i see as being the main events that have caused or contributed to the advertising effect on sales. Such a background gives a framework for the researcher to investigate other potential events, contributory fa ctors or causes. b. Objectives. The first part of this section would detail which marketing decisions are to be completed once the research has been undertaken. This requires decision-makers to explain what they see as the focus of the decision they plan to make. They then go on to explain what gaps(s) they see in their knowledge. Those gaps create the focus to planned esearch activities and set the research objectives. The formulation of the marketing objectives can encompass two areas: organizational objectives and personal objectives of the decision-maker. For the researcher this may not be explicit or obvious to discern. It may take time working with a decision-maker or a particular organization to see the potential conflicts in organizational and personal objectives. This ââ¬Ëfirst-stepââ¬â¢ brief offers the opportunity for the researcher to draw out and develop a much clearer vision of marketing and research objectives.Drawing out and developing decisionmakersââ¬â¢ pe rspective of objectives, helps the process of developing a common understanding of what the decision-maker is trying to achieve. c. Target to research. Any market research project will measure, understand or observe a target group of individuals. These may be distinct groups of consumers, channel members such as retailers or competitors, or company employees. In this section, details of the characteristics of the target group(s) can help in much research design decisions. These cover areas of identification, gaining access to conduct research, understanding which techniques are appropriate to measure or understand these individuals, and the best environment or context in which to conduct the research. d. Who is to use the findings? This section would outline brief details of the decision-maker who will use the research findings. For example, certain decision makers may be entrepreneurial and introspective, looking for short-term tactical advantages. Managers with a background and tra ining in statistics may expect results to be analyzed and presented in a particular manner to have any credibility.Other managers may not have such training or may even be distrustful of statistical analysis and seek a more qualitative interpretation. These 19 issues have an impact upon the nature and extent of analysis conducted upon the data collected and the style and format in which research findings will be presented. e. Constraints. The main limitation to marketing researchers carrying out what they may perceive as being the correct way to research a problem is the time and money that the marketer can afford. With knowledge of time and cost constraints, the researcher can develop a research design to suit these eeds. The researcher may also demonstrate other courses of action that could demand greater amount of money or time, but could have clear benefits that the marketer may be unaware of. Other constraints, such as those imposed by the client firmââ¬â¢s personnel, organi zational structure and culture, or decision making styles, should be identified to determine the scope of the research project. Yet constraints should not be allowed to diminish the value of the research to the decision-maker or to compromise the integrity of the research process. In instances where the resources are too limited to allow a project of sufficient quality, the firm should be advised not to undertake formal marketing research. f. Administrative considerations. These would lay out the administrative details in completing the research project. Examples could be the expected delivery of interim reports, contacts in the organization that may be able to help supply further information, or reference to sources of materials and individuals that are needed to complete the research successfully. lyujobfullre1980http://www.blogger.com/profile/15775260499357579116noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1623620285669287492.post-77059727422853128682020-01-02T03:30:00.001-08:002020-01-02T03:30:03.280-08:00Writing News Classics Adapted for Dummies and Mommies There are lots of books for babies in the bookstores. Fairy tales and funny, yet educational stories about almost everything in the world, are designed in the form of cardboard books with thick pages and rounded corners. Simple plots, lots of pictures ââ¬â almost all of us read them back in our childhood. They look attractive and are safe for reading and chewing. But for some reason parents stopped enjoying the simplicity and naivety of fairy tales and switched to the BabyLit series. What is it? Well, basically, books, which belong to BabyLit series, feature the most popular and important classic literary works, which are adapted for young minds of toddlers and babies. Nevertheless, instead of diving into depths of plot, babies will explore such topics, as colors, counting or concepts like diversity (or opposites, or other). Talking of design of such books: they are wonderfully decorated and their graphic is quite complex. Classics, published by BabyLit series, are mostly designed by talented contemporary artists. It is surely stupid to hope, that a 3-year old would get something for himself out of the plot of such a book, as, for example, ââ¬Å"Sense and Sensibilityâ⬠. It is also quite questionable if a child could even understand the title of this work (because even when talking of adults, not all of them do). But using the adapted version of the book in order to study colors or numbers? Priceless. Why classics anyways? In order to develop childââ¬â¢s aesthetic taste! Linda Bubon, an owner of a bookstore Women Children First, which is located in Chicago, states the following: ââ¬Å"If weââ¬â¢re going to play classical music to our babies in the womb and teach them foreign languages at an early age, then weââ¬â¢re going to want to expose babies to fine art and literature. Now we know there are things we can do to stimulate the mind of a baby.â⬠Besides, it is much more interesting for parents to interact with their child while reading and showing them pictures of adapted classic book, than while reading some ridiculous story about the adventures of puppies, or vegetables, or pieces of furniture. Children tend to like some books so much, that parents have to reread them again and again. It is obvious, that rereading, for example, adapted ââ¬Å"Moby-Dickâ⬠is less annoying, than rereading plotless ââ¬Å"Angry Birdsâ⬠story. At least, adapted classics, even after losing the complexity of their plot, still recall some memories on how nice it was to read the full story. lyujobfullre1980http://www.blogger.com/profile/15775260499357579116noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1623620285669287492.post-22899309753968945272019-12-24T23:52:00.001-08:002019-12-24T23:52:03.292-08:00Why I Didn t Jews Leave Germany Sooner - 949 Words ââ¬Å"Why didnââ¬â¢t Jews leave Germany sooner?â⬠ââ¬Å"Why did they not resist their deportation to the death camps more forcefully?â⬠ââ¬â Questions of this nature have been asked continuously throughout the last five decades.
